Paul, a man of God, served God faithfully by telling people about his love, especially those who were not Jewish. In doing so, he had to endure many adversities and often reached his mental and physical limits. Towards the end of his ministry, he said to his protégé Timothy:
But I have fought the good fight of faith; now the goal has been reached, and I have remained faithful to God.
2 Timothy 4, 7
We as humans, including Paul, are inconsistent by nature. Sometimes this manifests itself in our unfaithful behavior towards friends, family members, colleagues and ultimately also towards God.
Paul was well aware of his inconsistency and its negative consequences. He therefore reminded Timothy, and us too, that God always remains faithful despite our unfaithfulness. He stands by us and is for us.
What does this knowledge of God’s faithfulness trigger in you?
