The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore, the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.”
Luke 1:35
Generations waited for the prophecies to be fulfilled. It happened in an insignificant little village: the Son of God came into the world—as a baby.
Would people ever have expected Jesus, the promised Savior, to be born as a helpless child? That he would grow up as an infant, child, and teenager and have the same experiences as all of us? Even during his ministry, many expected him to overthrow the Romans and establish himself as king. They expected Jesus to intervene powerfully, but he remained humble.
He, powerful and superior, left his unity with the Father to live as a baby, completely dependent on others. This humility shaped his life and work. He did not come to overthrow governments, but to defeat sin through his sacrifice on the cross.
What does Jesus’ humility and sacrifice on the cross mean for your own life?
