Today is a beautiful spring morning. I am enjoying my breakfast in peace at the kitchen table. After a while, the sun shines over the mountains and the first rays of sunshine find their way into my apartment. After a few seconds of marveling at the beauty of the sunrise and the fresh spring colors, I discover that my window pane is covered in dust and smudges. I hadn’t noticed how dirty the windows were before and decide to clean them again soon.
God has a similar effect in our lives when we allow him to shine into our hearts like the sun. At first, it feels good, it warms us, and we realize that we have been missing his presence. Through God’s presence in our lives, our dark spots are also revealed.
This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
1. John 1,5
God wants us to be well, to have clean windows. Not because he wants to pressure us to perform, but because he wants nothing to stand between our hearts and his love.
Do you allow God to shine into your heart?
