The Emperor’s Last Words
11. June. 23

The last words of the Roman Emperor Augustus were: “Have I played the part well? Then applaud as I exit.”

A person is likely never as close to real life–to one’s genuine existence–as at the moment shortly before one’s death. It is at this time that most people remove their masks because they sense that they can no longer play a role. The moment of truth is at hand.

Many people realize that they have spent their lives believing things and living in a way that has no eternal value. Their self-built foundation begins to crumble and finally collapses. What have you built the “house” of your life on? Would it collapse when faced with an impending death?

Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

Matthew 7:24

The Bible describes Jesus as the only One who will endure for all eternity. I build my life on this foundation because I know that it will support me even beyond death into eternity. Whoever asks Jesus to forgive his/her sins receives this eternal life. This is my wish for you.
