Jesus was born by a virgin, performed remarkable miracles and gave his life for the world. But without his resurrection from the dead, this story is completely worthless.

The Gospel of Mark describes women going to his tomb on Sunday morning realizing that the stone was rolled away. Instead of finding Jesus, an angel is sitting where Jesus was put to rest. .

Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.

Mark 16:6

Jesus was publicly executed on Good Friday and laid in a guarded and sealed tomb after his cruel death. And yet, three days later, he is alive again. Over the course of the following 40 days, he shows himself to Mary Magdalene, three other women, his disciples, his half-brother James and over 500 other eyewitnesses.

All of this should encourage us to carefully examine what the historical and biblical accounts say about Jesus. We should reflect on the fact that Jesus was the first to be resurrected and that he offers us eternal life.

Christians greet each other at Easter time with the words: “Christ is risen!” Do you believe that Jesus is truly risen?
