Ölwechsel im Herz? UPLIFT TEST

Ölwechsel im Herz? UPLIFT TEST

Time for a Change

Time for a Change

Artists try out various materials and techniques to better express their thoughts and feelings. Musicians practice their music one beat at a time, one note at a time, in order to memorize and perfect a new song. Architects and engineers study and apply complex calculations in order to plan and build safe constructions.

We invest time and thought in all of these things in order to become good at them.

King David wanted to get to know God better. He knew that God’s Word is important for this. He understood that the holy Scriptures helped him to understand how to live without hurting other people and without turning his back on God. Day after day, he invested his time in getting to know God better.

I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways.

Psalm 119:15

We can also learn from this valuable practice. If we want to get to know God, if we want to get to know Jesus, we need to get to know God’s word. By reading the Bible, we find out the kind of life God our Creator planned for us to live.

To whom or what are you devoting your time and thoughts today?

Tipp: To get to know God better, you could start reading the gospel of John today. If you’d like to, you could use colored pencils to underline the verses that speak to you.

Alpha und Omega

Alpha und Omega

I was at the cemetery in my hometown today. I visited several graves of people I knew. Both the date of birth and death are engraved on every tombstone. The beginning and the end of a person’s life on the earth. This all seems to be so established, so final. Limited time and the transience in relation to it are part of life and leave us seeming somehow small and impotent.

But are these engraved dates really final? Is everything really over the day I die?

There is a God who says of himself: “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.”

Revelation 21:6

The eternal God created the world. He exists outside of space and time. We were created to have fellowship with God for all eternity. Our souls live on even after we die. When everything else is gone, it is God who remains. The God of life and love sent his only son Jesus to the earth in order to reconcile you with him.

Will you accept this imperishable gift?

I Pray for my Family

I Pray for my Family

I grew up in a Christian family, in which I experienced the impact of prayer. In my father’s company there were around 50 employees who received a monthly payment. Through the intense competition from the Far East and the increasing pressure of the retailers, the company suddenly started going into debt. Every evening we prayed together for God’s intervention.

Some time later, my father unexpectedly received an offer to sell the company. It was God’s answer and the means by which he avoided having to declare bankruptcy.

55 years have gone by since then, and I have experienced many other miracles with God. It’s worth it to talk with God about our problems whenever we experience difficult situations. We might not get an answer right away. Yet God always hears our prayers and answers in our best interest.

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

 Matthew 7:7

Today I know that I can lay down at night in peace, without waking up from any nightmares covered in sweat. This is because I trust in God who lets me to sleep in peace and safety. Would you also like to have this peace?

No more nightmares

No more nightmares

I wake up from a nightmare covered in sweat only to hear footsteps. A burglar? I immediately wake my husband up out of a deep sleep. While he scours our apartment for any sign of a burglar, I tremble with fear.

We are often plagued by worries and fears. What are yours?

We read in the Bible that we can indeed have an impact on some things, but that most things in life are out of our control. This is why we often spend our time worrying about things we cannot control. Are you familiar with this?

If you know Jesus Christ, if you are walking through life with him and trust in him, then you don’t have to worry about the things you can’t change. You can entrust these things to him.

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.

 Psalm 4:9

Today I know that I can lay down at night in peace, without waking up from any nightmares covered in sweat. This is because I trust in God who lets me to sleep in peace and safety. Would you also like to have this peace?
