‘One wish, please!’
19. October. 25

Zacharias and his wife Elizabeth had a deep desire: to have a child of their own. But for years, this desire remained unfulfilled. Nevertheless, the following is written about them in the Bible:

Both lived according to God’s will and adhered strictly to His commandments and rules in all things.

Luke 1:6

That really impresses me! Zacharias and Elizabeth had a close relationship with God and lived their lives in faith and trust in Him. Their unfulfilled desire to have children did not seem to prevent them from continuing to make God the centre of their lives. Especially at that time, not being able to have children meant having to endure a hard fate.
God wants to be much more than just the fulfiller of our wishes. In Jesus, He has given us someone who offers us true life and fulfilment that goes beyond our worldly desires.
Is it possible for you to have a fulfilled life even if your wishes remain unfulfilled?
