Imagine you’d be gifted a car of your choice! That would be quite something! My cousin inherited a house! Can you beat that? – Just a second! – Is the meaning of a present connected with its material value? We are, without trying to or conscientiously meaning to be, very materialistic.
Jesus elaborated in his Sermon on the Mount on the values that truly fill and form our lives (Matthew 5-7). Jesus encourages us not to attach our heart to food, clothes and belongings. As long as we cling to it, we won’t see what’s really important.
Give greed the boot and strive for the biggest treasure. The forgiveness of sin through Jesus Christ is the biggest gift. It contains everlasting life.
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
