In Ireland, I have seen that a huge gate is the only entrance to a detached house. So when you enter the property, you can only do so through this gate.

Then Jesus said: “Yes, I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved. Wherever he goes, he will find green pastures.”

John 10:9

Jesus uses the image of the gate to emphasise that he is the only door through which one can gain access to safety and protection. In contrast, those who try to gain access in other ways are thieves and robbers who want to cause harm.

Jesus is the true door for the sheep. This means that he is the only access point for us humans to find eternal security and protection for an abundant life.
