When I was 10 years old, I was having trouble falling asleep one night. I didn’t have any pain, and I also had not experienced anything particularly intense, but I started to cry. Suddenly it became clear to me that Jesus was now talking to me. He wanted to have fellowship with me at this very moment.
For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Romans 10:10
If we believe that Jesus is God and confess our faith in him, we are rescued from an eternal death. It can sometimes be difficult to believe this, but through Jesus, God invites us—just as we are—into fellowship with him. We don’t need to be perfect. We don’t need to do anything in order to earn this. We just need to be ready.
On this particular evening, I was indeed ready.
If you don’t have a relationship with Jesus yet, you can be sure that he loves you just as you are. He doesn’t expect perfection. All that he asks of you is that you have faith in him.
Why not take a moment’s time to tell him that you believe in him and ask him to direct your life? The offer stands; you have only to accept it.
