Good things take time
30. August. 26

A woman recently told me about her first attempt at baking bread. She actually hardly had any time for it. But she had set her mind to it: “Today I want to make my own bread.” In a hurry, she gathered the ingredients, made the dough—and popped it in the oven.

She was very disappointed when she later took a bite of the freshly baked bread. It tasted like “nothing at all”—it was just bland. In her impatience, she hadn’t focused properly and had forgotten the most important thing: the salt.

We need patience. That is what the Bible teaches us. Impatience has destroyed many things. It is not only material possessions that can be ruined—relationships also suffer because of impatience.

So: Take your time. Be patient with yourself and those around you. Ask yourself: What’s going on in my life—today? Tomorrow? In a month? One thing is certain: To discover what God wants from you, you need patience and time. Quick answers often turn out to be bad advice.

For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.
