How Does God Deal with Guilt?

“I’m expecting!” These words pierce into the heart of the King, because it’s not his wife that he was with. No One can ever know about this! He permits his General to have a vacation at home, however, the loyal soldier doesn’t go home to his wife. Therefore, the King puts him in the front line where he will surely be killed. Lucky, isn’t it? Everything is alright? On the contrary, the Prophet Nathan accuses: “You are the man, David!” He can’t escape it. His actions are revealed and he comes to acknowledge them.

Many believe that good is in us from birth. A critical review of history or the daily newspaper shows: Wrong! Violence reigns wherever you go.

David recognizes: “It was hidden to me, it pleases you, if one recognizes the truth.” He admits his guilt, asks for forgiveness and realizes: The man whose sin is washed away by god is as clean as freshly fallen snow! Is there anything more soothing than a clean conscience?

Take my sin then I’ll be clean.

Psalm 52:9

Text of the week: Psalm 51:1-19
