I’m travelling with a big suitcase in Vienna. An escalator leads out of the subway station. “Careful” someone just told me due to the luggage. “It shouldn’t be a big deal”, I thought but in that moment I lost balance. I struggled but can’t avoid a fall. Backwards or to the side, I let go of the suitcase so I could support myself, but there was only one way – backwards. To support myself? Impossible.
So I fell backwards and suddenly realized: There are hands that hold me up. Beside and behind me, people spread out their hands and literally saved me from a fall.
An unforgettable experience: I am not alone. I am held up. There are people around me who catch me when I fall.
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
Psalms 91:11-12
Deep inside I feel: Ultimately God is the strong, loving father who holds me up in life and death.
