I had the privilege of growing up in a Christian family where I experienced the power of prayer. In my father’s business, there were about 50 employees who received a monthly salary. Due to massive competition from the Far East and increasing pressure from retailers, he suddenly found himself in a bad financial situation. My mother worked in the accounting department and she quickly realized what was about to happen. All of us children and our mom prayed every evening for God’s intervention. – Unexpectedly, my father received an offer to sell the company. It was the answer from God avoiding bankruptcy.
In the meantime, 55 years have passed and I have experienced many more miracles from God. There are times when we can talk to people about God. In many more situations it is worth talking to God about people’s problems. Often little to nothing happens immediately. But God hears our earnest prayer and acts as is best for us.
What is your experience with this?
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.

“Yes, what is it? Someone’s coming!” When a father sees his son approaching from a distance, he immediately runs to meet him with open arms. Even before his son can offer an apology, he embraces and kisses him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son!”
His son honestly confesses that he has abandoned and hurt his father. This is what repentance looks like.
That his son looks neglected, dirty and stinks is secondary to the father. He rejoices wholeheartedly in his child’s return and commands his servants, “Bring the best festive robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and shoes on his feet.”
Instead of holding things against him, the father showers the son with expressions of his love.
Because God loves you so much, he welcomes you just as much with open arms! No matter what happened in the past, no matter how much dirt you have accumulated. He loves you just the way you are!
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Imagine two disciples of Jesus are on their way to the village of Emmaus. They know Jesus well. They have been following him for three years.
Today they are sad because they have lost Jesus, he is dead. They talk about it and become more and more depressed. After a while, the resurrected Jesus suddenly joins the two. They do not recognize him.
Jesus asks them, “Why are you so sad?” The disciples tell him about Jesus’ death on the cross. Suddenly Jesus begins to explain to them from the Old Testament that this had to happen.
After some time, they reach Emmaus. It is already dark and the disciples invite Jesus to join them. Everyone sits at the table, Jesus takes the bread and gives thanks to God. He breaks it and distributes it to them.
Finally, they recognize him! “It is Jesus! He is alive!” What joy! Their sorrow is suddenly blown away.
Jesus’ resurrection gives me hope for life beyond death. What are you hoping for?
Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.
