With sufficient funds, we can buy whatever we like. We just have to like it and feel it’s worth it. We think that God works the same way and that many ways lead to God. It is just important that it suits me! Is that true?
Fact: God created this world in six days and created man and woman according to his image. He sent his son even though he existed all along. Virgin Mary gave birth to him. Jesus grew up as a carpenter’s son. The tradesman taught massively and not like the theologians of the time. Miracles supported his God given identity.
All religions make demands that can barely be met. Nonetheless, acts are never enough. The sovereign God does not have any religion. He gave his son Jesus to this world so we have forgiveness and reconciliation. A real, deep faith based relationship is only to be had through Jesus. He has done it all!
Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me.
Wir können uns mit genügend Geld kaufen, was uns gerade gefällt. Es muss einfach gefallen und für uns stimmen. Wir denken, dass das bei Gott auch so funktioniert und dass viele Wege zu Gott führen. Wichtig ist, dass es für mich stimmt! – Ist das wirklich so?
Fact: Gott schuf die Welt in sechs Tagen und machte Mann und Frau nach seinem Bild. Er sandte seinen Sohn, obwohl er schon immer existierte. Die Jungfrau Maria brachte ihn zur Welt. Jesus wuchs in der Familie eines Zimmermanns auf. Der Handwerker lehrte gewaltig und nicht wie die Theologen von damals. Die Wunder unterstrichen seine göttliche Identität.
Alle Religionen stellen Ansprüche, die kaum erfüllt werden können. Trotzdem reicht gutes Tun nie aus. – Der souveräne Gott hat keine Religion. Er gab seinen Sohn Jesus auf die Erde, um uns Vergebung und Versöhnung anzubieten. Eine echte, tiefe Beziehung zu Gott können wir nur durch Jesus bekommen. Er hat schon alles getan!
Jesus antwortete: «Ich bin der Weg, ich bin die Wahrheit, und ich bin das Leben! Ohne mich kann niemand zum Vater kommen.»
Letzten Frühling kaufte ich Maissamen, welchen ich in den Blumentopf auf meiner Terrasse streute. Anfänglich wuchsen die Pflanzen prächtig und wurden immer grösser, schöner und grüner. Ich pflegte sie, so gut ich konnte. Plötzlich begannen sie sich braun zu verfärben und liessen den Kopf hängen. Nach kurzer Zeit verdorrten sie. Was war nur passiert?
Ich begann zu analysieren und stellte fest, dass Mais für das Feld geschaffen ist. Mein Blumentopf auf der Terrasse war ungeeignet. Dieses Experiment lehrte mich folgendes: Gott hat mich zur Beziehung mit ihm geschaffen, verwurzelt wie der Mais. Er gibt mir lebenswichtige «Nährstoffe» zum Leben. Deshalb benötigen meine Wurzeln genügend Platz. Seine optimale Pflege bewirkt gesunde Frucht.
Seid in Christus verwurzelt und baut euer Leben ganz auf ihn.
Last spring, I bought some corn seed which I sprinkled in my flower pot on the porch. At the beginning, the plants grew nicely and got really big, beautiful and green. I took care of them the best I could. Suddenly they turned brown and withered. After a short while, they dried up completely. What happened?
I started analyzing and found that corn was made for fields. My flower pot was not suitable for it. This experiment showed me the following: God has created me to have a relationship with him, rooted like the corn. He gives me critical nutrients for life. Therefore, my roots need sufficient space. His optimal care results in healthy fruit.
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him.
If we take a stone out of water and cut it in half, it will be dry in the middle. The consistency is so hard that it does not absorb any water! It flows around and it is formed through other stones but there is no water getting into the inside. The sponge is very different as it absorbs water which it releases when we squeeze it.
You can use this analogy for our hearts. Am I hardening my heart? Is everything just bouncing off of it? Am I hard like a stone and unapproachable? God who wants to give us living water to drink requires soft materials. He does not want to force himself inside. He offers everyone his water of life but we have to drink ourselves.
For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.
