Wenn du einen Stein aus dem Bach nimmst und ihn durch trennst, so ist er in der Mitte trocken. Seine Konsistenz ist so hart, dass er kein bisschen Wasser aufnimmt! Es fliesst zwar um ihn herum und er wird durch andere Steine geschliffen, doch ins Innerste gelangt nichts. – Ganz anders der Schwamm, der das Wasser aufsaugt und beim Zusammendrücken wieder freisetzt.
Dieser Vergleich ist auf unser Herz anwendbar. Lasse ich nichts an mich heran? Prellt alles an meinem Herzen ab? Bin ich hart wie Stein und unnahbar? Gott, der uns von dem frischen Wasser zu trinken geben will, sucht weiche Herzen. Er will nicht mit Gewalt in uns hineindringen. Er bietet allen sein Lebenswasser an. Trinken müssen wir es schon selber.
Denn bei dir ist die Quelle des Lebens, und in deinem Licht sehen wir das Licht.

Möchtest du das Wasser des Lebens in dein Herz aufsaugen?
Ohne Wasser vertrocknen wir! Pflanzen, Bäume, Tiere, Menschen, alle benötigen Wasser. Täglich verdursten rund 6000 Menschen und 663 Millionen Leute haben keinen Zugang zu sauberem Trinkwasser. Wir in Europa drehen oft gedankenlos unseren Wasserhahn auf. Das sollte uns nachdenklich stimmen. Etwas dankbar sein, reicht nicht. Alle sind gefragt, praktische Veränderung zu bringen!
Es ist schrecklich, wenn Leute verdursten. Die Tatsache, dass Menschen «geistlich verdursten» ist noch entsetzlicher. Unsere Seele benötigt lebendiges Wasser von Jesus, das uns zu neuem Leben erweckt, sonst bleiben wir geistlich tot.
«Wer von dem Wasser trinkt, das ich ihm gebe, wird nie mehr Durst haben. Ich gebe ihm Wasser, das in ihm zu einer Quelle wird, die bis ins ewige Leben weiter sprudelt.»
Without water, we dry out! Plants, trees, animals, humans – we all need water. Everyday about 6000 people die of thirst and 663 million do not have access to clean water. In Europe, we often turn the faucet without thinking about it. It should make us think though. To be thankful doesn’t cut it. Everyone is called to task. Practical change is needed.
It is awful when folks die of thirst. The fact that people die of spiritual thirst is even worse. Our soul needs living waters from Jesus which revives us. Otherwise we are spiritually dead.
Jesus says: “But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
Throughout the ages, greed has never been either eradicated or satisfied. As a result, the gap between the rich and the poor, and between North and South keeps increasing. Huge salaries are paid out despite protests, even if it means that the weak are the ones “paying” for this. The unfair accumulation of wealth damages our souls.
Is it wrong to earn money honestly? No! Greed is also at home in slums. The real issue is the self-serving greed for more money and power. This predisposition is deep-seated in our hearts. It is not immediately apparent in each one of us.
What does the Bible mean by “losing one’s life”? Jesus voluntarily paid the price for the destructive sin in us with His own life. He relinquished his own desires and served his Father with complete devotion. Whoever follows Jesus and accepts his reconciliation, receives forgiveness and with it also healing and deliverance. With him you gain new, eternal life, which desires eternal, everlasting values.
What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?
Durch alle Epochen hindurch konnte die Gier nach Besitz weder ausgerottet noch befriedigt werden. Deshalb klafft die Schere zwischen Arm und Reich, Nord und Süd ständig auseinander. Riesige Saläre werden trotz Protesten ausbezahlt, auch wenn Schwächere dafür zahlen . Unfaire Bereicherung hinterlässt Schäden in unserer Seele. – Ist recht verdienen schmutzig? Nein! – Die Raffgier ist auch im Elendsviertel zu Hause. Der eigentliche Defekt ist die egoistische Gier nach Geld und Macht. Diese Veranlagung liegt tief in unseren Herzen! Sie ist nicht bei allen sogleich erkennbar.
Was hat ein Mensch davon, wenn er die ganze Welt gewinnt, aber zuletzt sein Leben verliert?

Was meint die Bibel mit: «sein Leben verlieren»? Jesus bezahlte freiwillig mit seinem Leben für die zerstörerische Sünde in uns. Er verzichtete auf seine Wünsche und diente seinem Vater mit ganzer Hingabe. Wer Jesus nachfolgt und seine Versöhnung annimmt, empfängt Vergebung und damit auch Heilung und Befreiung. Mit ihm gewinnst du neues, ewiges Leben, das ganzheitlich, erfüllend und unvergänglich ist..
