Episode1: “12 Milestones through the Bible”
We as humans need a story that gives us meaning. The one who does not have anything to tell is on the sidelines. Countries, cultures, politics and humans – we all have individual stories. We can identify with them. This way, traditions are built. Without knowing our roots, we are easily drawn by ideologies and fables and are dominated by them.
The Bible contains the story about how the earth and men came to be. God had it written down to give us our identity and anchor. The earth and its inhabitants were created by God in six days from absolutely nothing. Who besides God can create something from ‘nothing’ that is this wonderful and life-filled?
“In the beginning God created…” This is how the biblical report starts. Our designer wanted this earth, the animals and us humans. You, dear reader, are not a product created by accident but pure intention fuelled by love and created with excellence. You are an important part of God’s story.

Begeistert führte ich Jauche auf das schneebedeckte Feld. Mit jeder Fahrt kamen weitere braune Streifen dazu. Am nächsten Morgen war alles mit Schnee verzuckert. Noch waren Spuren sichtbar, aber alles erstrahlte in reinem Weiss. Die Sonnenstrahlen brachten alles zum Glitzern. Stahlblauer Himmel und saubere Luft krönten das Naturspektakel!
- Können in unseren Leben sichtbare, schmutzige Spuren ausgelöscht werden?
- Wie können wir Sorgen und Belastungen fachgerecht entsorgen?
Ich hörte, dass Jesus Sünden vergibt. Der biblische Prophet Micha verwendet dazu ein starkes Bild: Gott entsorgt alle unsere Sünden in den Tiefen des Meeres, wo keiner sie heraufholen kann. Mit meinem Freund brachte ich im Gebet alles zu Gott. Jesus begann in meinem Denken und Handeln Veränderungen zu bewirken, die auch heute weitergehen. Mein Herz wurde mit seiner Liebe immer mehr aufgeweicht. Es war mir, als ob ich meine alten, stinkigen Klamotten gegen ein neues, weisses Kleid tauschen würde. (Offenbarung 3, 5)
Eure Sünden sind blutrot, und doch sollt ihr schneeweiss werden.

With excitement, I put manure on the snow covered field. With each trip another brown strip was added. The next morning, everything was covered in white snow. You could still see some traces, but everything was snow white. The sun made it all sparkle. Blue sky and clean air were the cherry on the cake when looking at nature’s display.
Is it possible to extinguish visible, dirty traces in our life? Or dispose of sorrows and burdens professionally?
I heard that Jesus forgives sin. The biblical prophet Micha used a strong picture: God disposes of all of our sins in the depth of the ocean where no one can bring them up again. With my councillor, I gave everything to Jesus in prayer. He started to change my thoughts and actions and continues his work until today. Through His love, my heart became softer. It was as if I would change my old clothes with new, white garments.
“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

Eine sehr arme Familie beschäftigte einen Knecht, der von früh morgens bis spätabends nebst Kost und Logis zum damals üblichen Lohn von 20 Rappen pro Monat arbeitete.
Der Knecht ging immer zur Kirche. Deshalb teilte er seine 20 Rappen auf, um jeden Sonntag 5 Rappen in den Opferstock zu werfen. Er strahlte immer grosse Dankbarkeit aus, weil Gott ihm alles gab, was er zum Leben brauchte.
Hundert Jahre später diskutieren wir über neue Armut und überrissene Saläre. Jener Knecht hat viel von Gottes Prinzipien und himmlischem Reichtum verstanden. Unser Wohlstand und die ungestillte Habgier haben uns buchstäblich die lebensnotwendigen, gesunden Relationen zerstört.
Jesus verwies seine Jünger auf eine arme Witwe, die nur wenig in den Opferstock einlegen konnte: «Sie hat mehr gegeben als alle anderen. Die haben alle nur etwas von ihrem Überfluss abgegeben. Sie gab alles was sie selbst hätte dringend zum Leben gebraucht.»

A very poor family had a servant who worked from early morning to late at night for room and board and the, at that time, customary 20 Swiss Rappen (like cents).
The servant went to church weekly. Therefore, he kept 5 Rappen to donate on Sunday. He always reflected huge gratefulness, because God gave him what he needed to live.
Hundreds of years later, we discuss the new poverty and outrageous salaries at the same time. The servant understood a lot about God’s principles of the heavenly riches. Our prosperity and insatiable greed have taken our desperately required, healthy sense for relations.
Jesus pointed out a window who couldn’t give a lot in donations to his disciples: “She has given more than everyone else. They only gave something from their wealth. She gave what she truly needed to sustain herself.”
Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.
