How wonderful, just to relax in a lawn chair for a few minutes, to not think of anything just relax at the push of a button.
Often that is really difficult because the “to do list” in your head continues working. On a regular day with a child, home, garden and visitors, there is always something to do. Nevertheless, I realize how important those small moments of rest are.
To sit on the balcony, to breathe in the cool morning air, to listen to the birds chirping and to talk to God. After moments like this, I am relaxed and effective.
Jesus also sought the quiet where he could gather new strength from his father. Refreshed, he would face new tasks.
Allow yourself small breaks during the day so you can be filled up with God’s love.

Neulich stand in der Bäckerei ein Mädchen vor mir, das sich ein Pau- senbrötchen kaufen wollte. Leider reichte das Geld nicht aus. «Es fehlen noch 10 Rappen» mahnte die Verkäuferin.
Auch wenn das nur wenig ist, hat das Brötchen seinen Wert. Gerne beglich ich spontan den fehlenden Betrag. So wurde die Schuld getilgt, das Mädchen glücklich, die Verkäuferin zufrieden. – Ganz einfach! Es musste jedoch alles genau stimmen!
Die Bibel schreibt auch von einem Preis, der bezahlt werden musste. Wir stehen in der Schuld bei Gott, weil uns die Sünde von ihm trennt. Wie gut zu wissen, dass Jesus dafür bezahlte. Das kostete ihn sein Leben, das er freiwillig am Kreuz für uns dahin gab. Warum lehnen sehr viele diese Hilfe ab?
Der Sohn des Menschen ist nicht gekommen, um bedient zu werden, sondern um zu dienen und sein Leben zu geben als Lösegeld für viele.

The other day a girl was in front of me in line at a bakery. She wanted to buy some food for her break. Unfortunately, she didn’t have enough change. “10 cents are missing,” the lady behind the sales desk told her.
Even though it is not much, the bun has its value. Of course, I spontaneously covered the missing amount. This way the debt was taken care of, the girl was happy and the seller satisfied. Real simple! But everything had to be just right.
The Bible also talks about a price that had to be paid. We are in debt with God because sin separates us from him. It is good to know that Jesus paid for it. That cost him his life which he voluntarily gave on the cross. Why do we refuse his help?

Freude, Stolz und Glück beflügeln uns, wenn wir unser Kind beobachten, wie es etwas Neues lernt und entdeckt.
Unser Sohn ist im Krabbelalter angekommen. Ist unsere Wohnung kindersicher? Grossartige Gefühle steigen auf, wenn wir sehen, wie der Kleine Tag für Tag Fortschritte macht, sein Umfeld unsicher macht und sich selbstständig bewegt.
Unwillkürlich denke ich daran, wie es Gott geht, wenn er mir als sein geliebtes Kind zuschaut. Ich mache im Alltag Schritte, entdecke Gnade, suche Versöhnung und gebe Liebe weiter. Manchmal scheitere ich kläglich. An seiner helfenden Hand stehe ich wieder auf. Auch wir Eltern befreien unseren Sohn aus misslichen oder oft «lustigen» Situationen heraus.
Streck deine Hand aus, HERR, um mir zu helfen; ich habe mich für dein Gesetz entschieden!

Happiness, pride, and joy take hold of us when we watch our child when it learns something new.
Our son started to crawl. Is our apartment safe? Fantastic feelings arise when we see how he makes small progress every day, discovers his environment and becomes more independent.
I happen to think about how God feels when he watches his beloved child. Every day, I take small steps, discover grace, seek reconciliation and give love. Sometimes, I fail completely. With his helping hand, I get up again. We as parents also help our son out of some miserable and “funny” situations.
Those who trust God can trust in his help!
