When I read about the life of Jesus in the Bible, I can’t help but be amazed. For example, the love with which he met all people. The peace that Jesus radiated. These incredible miracles: the blind suddenly see, the lame walk, lepers are healed, people are set free inside.
On Christmas, we celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ. How is it that the whole world celebrates this? To fuel consumption in December?
Interestingly, Jesus himself spoke about what makes him so unique:
And that’s when Jesus said, ‘You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.’
John 18:37
Jesus was not primarily interested in doing good, healing the sick or founding a new religion. He came to reveal the truth. In Jesus Christ, God becomes man and renews the relationship between people and God. He is the way, the truth and the life!
I believe in this truth from the bottom of my heart. No matter what my circumstances are, I cling to Jesus and his words.

Wie müssen sich Maria und Joseph nach ihrer langen Reise zu Fuss und auf einem Esel gefühlt haben? Ich stelle mir vor, sie waren erschöpft, müde und voller Sorgen, besonders Maria, die hochschwanger war. Bestimmt hat sie sich nach einem gemütlichen Zimmer in einer Herberge gesehnt. Doch nach langem Suchen fanden die Beiden schliesslich nur einen Stall, in dem Maria ihr erstes Kind zur Welt brachte.
Inmitten der Hektik und des Stresses, der uns oft in der Adventszeit begleitet, ist es leicht, den Blick für das Wesentliche zu verlieren. Wir sehnen uns gerade in dieser Zeit nach Ruhe – heisst vielleicht, weniger Menschen beim Geschenke einkaufen oder kein Stress bei der Suche nach einem perfekten Weihnachtsbaum. Ich glaube, Jesus, der Gottessohn, bietet uns mehr als nur etwas Ruhe.
«Kommt her zu mir, alle, die ihr euch abmüht und unter eurer Last leidet! Ich werde euch Ruhe geben.»
Matthäus 11,28
Das ist die wahre Weihnachtsbotschaft: Gott bietet dir nicht nur Erholung für deinen Körper und Geist, sondern auch für deine Seele. Denn Gott kam an Weihnachten zur Welt, um Gemeinschaft mit uns zu haben. Sein göttlicher Frieden schenkt er uns nicht nur für die Adventszeit, sondern darüber hinaus für deinen ganz normalen Alltag.

Maybe you’re tired from all the Christmas stress of the last few days? How did Mary and Joseph feel after their long journey on foot and on a donkey? Surely, they were both exhausted, and Mary was heavily pregnant on top of it all. How happy they would probably have been to find a room in a cozy inn. They searched in vain for a long time until they finally found room in a stable for animals. Maria gave birth to her first baby on hay and straw …
What touches you during this Advent season? Are you looking for peace and rest during these days? The Son of God, Jesus, offers us more than rest.
‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.’
Matthew 11:28
This is God’s good news of Christmas! He offers you rest, not just for your body, but for your soul. We wish you this divine peace today and for your future.

Joseph was an honorable craftsman and Israelite, a direct descendant of King David. He was engaged to Mary. His fiancée traveled to visit her relatives for three months. When she returned, Joseph realized that she was pregnant. What a shock, his fiancée had cheated on him!
Joseph wanted to save Mary from the death penalty for adultery, as they were already considered a couple. He wanted to leave her secretly.
Then an angel appeared to Joseph and said: ‘Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife!’
Matthew 1:20
How much courage, strength and trust in God this Joseph had! Instead of thinking of himself and his reputation, he trusted God. He accepted God’s plan for him, Mary and this unborn child. He married his pregnant Mary and became the stepfather of God’s son!

Josef war ein ehrbarer Handwerker und Israelit, ein direkter Nachfahre von König David. Er war mit Maria verlobt. Seine Verlobte reiste für drei Monate zu ihren Verwandten. Als sie zurückkehrte, bemerkte Josef, dass sie schwanger war. Was für ein Schock, seine Verlobte hatte ihn betrogen!
Josef wollte Maria vor der Todesstrafe bewahren, die auf Ehebruch stand, galten sie doch schon als Paar. Er wollte sie heimlich verlassen.
Da erschien Josef ein Engel, der sagte: «Josef, du Nachkomme Davids, scheue dich nicht, Maria als deine Frau zu dir zu nehmen!»
Matthäus 1,20
Wie viel Mut, Stärke und Gottvertrauen hatte dieser Josef! Anstatt an sich und seinen Ruf zu denken, vertraute er Gott. Er liess sich auf Gottes Plan mit ihm, Maria und diesem ungeborenen Kind ein. Er heiratete seine schwangere Maria, damit wurde er Stiefvater von Gottes Sohn!
