«Social Distancing» mit Gott

Seit Corona wissen wir, wie wichtig «Social Distancing» ist. Ich durfte meine Mutter im Altersheim während zwei Monaten nicht mehr besuchen. Später durch eine Scheibe, dann mit fünf Meter Abstand während 20 Minuten! Die vertrauten Gespräche waren durch weitere Anwesende gestört.

Ein vertrauter Austausch war fast unmöglich. Mutter sagte, die Situation sei schlimmer als im Krieg, den sie als Mädchen erlebte.

Unsere Beziehung mit Gott lebt von Intimität und Nähe. Er klopft an unsere Herzenstür und sucht immer wieder Kontakt mit uns. Ich kann ihm einfach öffnen. Halte ich ihn von mir fern, kann keine echte Beziehung entstehen. Auch wenn wir ihn nicht sehen, können wir ihn im Herzen spüren. Je mehr Raum der Heilige Geist bekommt, umso mehr wächst diese herzliche Beziehung zu Jesus.

Gebt Acht, ich stehe vor der Tür und klopfe an! Wenn jemand meine Stimme hört und die Tür öffnet, werde ich bei ihm einkehren.

“Social Distancing” with God?

Since Corona, we know how important “Social Distancing” is. For two months, I was unable to visit my mother in the old folks home. Later, there was a glass barrier between us, then a distance of 5 meters while we visited for 20 minutes! The conversations were interrupted by others around. Having a deeper conversation was almost impossible. For mom this was worse than the war she endured as a little girl. 

Our relationship with God lives from intimacy and closeness. He knocks on our heart’s door and seeks again and again to have a relationship with us. I can just open up. If I keep him at arms length, there won’t be a real relationship. The more room the Holy Spirit is given, the deeper grows the relationship to Jesus. 

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Revelations 3:20

Was bringt’s das Leben zu planen?

Umfragen zeigen, dass die meisten Menschen ihre Ferien besser planen als das ganze Leben. Weshalb ist das so?

Als ich nur noch Frust und Ärger empfand und jegliche Freude verlor, entschloss ich mich, mein Leben neu zu überdenken. Mit meiner Bibel und zielführenden Fragen wollte ich mich durchleuchten lassen. Ich erarbeitete messbare und machbare Ziele. Ich klärte meine Beziehung zu Jesus, zu mir und den Mitmenschen neu.

Nun wusste ich, wohin die Reise geht und wofür ich mich konkret einsetzen will. – Wer das Ziel nicht kennt, findet auch den richtigen Weg nicht dahin!

Ich halte geradewegs auf das Ziel zu, um den Siegespreis zu gewinnen. Dieser Preis ist das ewige Leben, zu dem Gott mich durch Jesus Christus berufen hat.

Heute bin ich motivierter und zufriedener denn je. Auch wenn etwas nicht nach Plan läuft, weiss ich trotzdem, dass die Richtung stimmt. Das gibt mir die Gelassenheit und den Frieden, die ich gesucht habe.

Is Life Planning Worth it?

Surveys show that people plan their vacations more carefully than their whole life. Why is that?

When I was stuck in frustration and anger and had lost all joy in life, I decided to re-think my life. With the Bible and targeted questions, I wanted to get to the bottom of it. I worked on measurable goals. I clarified my relationship with Jesus, myself and others. 

Today, I am more motivated and happier than ever before. Even if something is not working according to plan, I know that the direction is right. That puts me at ease and gives the peace of mind that I was looking for. 

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

“Why should we take an example from the birds under the sky and still work six days?” This way someone wanted to show me a contradiction in the Bible. What do you think about this?

God created earth in six days and on the seventh day he rested. He told the man to name the animals and to tend to the garden. Work in healthy measures is part of the creators concept. To work until exhaustion is human greed! One day of rest while focussing on God gives new strength and is his idea. Nevertheless, many stress during their time off as well. 

Birds do not build a stock. In comparison, we do hoard more than we truly need. Let’s learn from the birds which are taken care of by God. 

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Matthew 6:26

Those who work and trust God won’t be disappointed. Worrying won’t extend your life by a single day.
