Das Leben bietet ständig Situationen, in denen wir uns entscheiden müssen. Leider neigen wir dazu, dringenden Entscheidungen Priorität zu geben. Zum Schluss stehen wichtige Lebensfragen hinten an. Wir schieben besonders die Frage nach dem Sinn des Lebens auf die lange Bank. Man weiss ja nicht so genau, was nach dem Tod passiert und überlässt es dem Zufall. – Die Rockband AC/DC kreischt: «Ich bin auf dem Weg zur Hölle!»
Jesus sagt hier sehr deutlich, dass er der einzige Weg zu Gott ist. Es gibt auch für Menschen, die ein edles Leben führen, nur diesen einen Weg. Der Sohn Gottes hat den Willen seines Vaters erfüllt! Nur er ist autorisiert, Sünde zu vergeben, weil er mit seinem Leben dafür bezahlte. Wer Vergebung braucht, kommt an Jesus nicht vorbei. Nichts konnte ihn im Grab halten. Er ist auferstanden! Er lebt! Er ist das Leben!

In life, we continually have situations in which we need to decide. Unfortunately, we tend to give priority to urgent decisions. At the end, important questions in life take a back seat. Especially questions around the purpose of life are postponed. At the end, you don’t quite know what happens after death and you leave it up in the air. The band AC/DC screamed: “I’m on the highway to hell!”
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6
Jesus says very clearly that he is the only way to God. Even people who live a privileged life have only this one way. The Son of God fulfilled the will of the Father! Only he is authorized to forgive sin because he paid for it with his life. Those who need forgiveness won’t get past Jesus. Nothing could keep him in the grave. He is risen! He lives! He is the life!

Ich bin auf der Suche nach guter Lektüre, als ich in einer Buchhandlung völlig unerwartet einen Geldbeutel entdecke. Nicht etwa am Boden, wo ihn vielleicht ein Kunde verloren hätte, sondern ganz hinten in einem Gestell, verdeckt durch ein paar Romane. Beim Nachsehen stosse ich auf jede Menge Kredit- Bankomat- und Kundenkarten – aber keinen Rappen Bargeld. Immerhin: Durch die Kundenkarten ist es ein Leichtes, die Adresse und Telefonnummer des Besitzers herauszufinden.
Wie vermutet: Der Geldbeutel war vor ein paar Wochen gestohlen worden. Alles verwertbare Bargeld war weg. Aber was bewog den Dieb, diesen Geldbeutel in einer Buchhandlung zu verstecken? Plagte ihn das schlechte Gewissen? Wollte er, dass er gefunden wird? Wir können es nur vermuten…
Sicher ist: Es gibt eine Entsorgungsstelle für unsere Sünde, für Schuld, die uns plagt im Leben: Die Einladung gilt: Wer seine Sünde bekennt, dem wird vergeben! Verstecken ist nicht nötig!
Wenn wir unsere Sünden bekennen, erweist sich Gott als treu und gerecht: Er wird unsere Sünden vergeben und uns von allem Bösen reinigen.

I was looking for some good literature when I found a wallet. It wasn’t on the floor where a customer would have lost it but it was on a shelf hidden by a few novels.
I investigated further and found a number of credit-, bank- and client cards – but no cash. But – at least – through the client cards it is easy to figure out the owner’s address and phone number.
Like I thought, the wallet was stolen a few weeks before. All cash was gone. But why would the thief hide the wallet in a bookstore? Did he have a bad conscience? Did he want it to be found? We can only guess…
But God is faithful and fair. If we admit that we have sinned, he will forgive us our sins. He will forgive every wrong thing we have done. He will make us pure.
1 John 1:9
Certain is: There is a dump for our sins, for guilt that makes life difficult: The invitation is valid: Those who recognize their sin will be forgiven! There is no need to hide!

There are various “red lines” throughout the Bible such as the term “salvation”. God views us as creatures that need to be saved. We do not like this description since we believe that we can help ourselves. The daily negative news shows, however, that since we broke with God, we are able to do everything evil. According to the Bible, there was so much wrongdoing in the centuries after Adam and Eve that God gave the “flood” as an awful judgement.
Huge bodies of water flooded the planet and destroyed everything. However, before that, God started a rescue mission. He ordered Noah to build an Ark to rescue men and animals for the future. People laughed about Noah and his huge ark which he built for 20 years. Before God sent the flood, he closed the doors of the ark himself.
But the Lord was pleased with Noah.
Genesis 6:8
Conclusion: The offer is for everyone! Those who decline will be judged.
