The first humans were almost perfect images of God. Their life was pure harmony. We cannot really imagine that. They knew only one limitation: two trees in the Garden of Eden which they weren’t allowed to eat the fruit from. They were warned: If you do eat the fruit, the almost perfect life is gone. A “point of no return”.
We know the famous story about the forbidden fruit. Our forefathers couldn’t resist the temptation. They lost their innocence and there was no way back. Like a mirror shatters into thousands of pieces the conformity of humans with God broke. There are still specks of it in us, but the break is visible. Humans and creation are suffering till today.
But there is good news: God comes to us in Jesus Christ, offers forgiveness and eternal life and keeps back on his final judgement! Since he is love, he seeks salvation and not punishment!
Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.

Es gibt heute sehr viele Türen, durch die wir gehen können! Wir leben in einer Welt, die jeden Geschmack befriedigen will. Jesus sagt hier nicht: «Hallo, ich bin eine von vielen Türen, komm doch zu mir, das wäre echt trendy.» Er sagt von sich sehr absolut: «Ich
bin die Tür.»
Er ist die einzige Türe, bei der wir Rettung finden. Bei ihm bekommen wir, was wir wirklich brauchen. Er stillt den Hunger und Durst unserer Seele. Aber wir müssen eintreten.
Durch Jesus bekommen wir Zugang zur Gegenwart Gottes. Wir betreten Gottes Haus, weil Jesus uns durch die Vergebung der Sünde die Berechtigung dazu gibt. An seinem Tisch sind viele lebenswichtige Speisen (Galater 5,22), die wir nur bei ihm finden.
Schliesslich weiss unser Erfinder am Besten, was wir nötig haben.
Rettung finden wir nur bei dem ewigen Gott.
Jesus sagt: «Ich bin die Tür. Wenn jemand durch mich hineingeht, wird er gerettet werden und wird ein- und ausgehen und Weide finden.»

There are many doors we can go through today! We live in a world that wants to satisfy every need. Jesus doesn’t say: “Hey, I am one of many doors, come to me I’m en vogue.” He says with authority: “I am the door.”
He is the only door where we find true salvation. With him, we get what we really need. He satisfies the hunger and thirst of our soul. But we need to come in.
Through Jesus, we get access to God. We come into God’s house since Jesus gives us eligibility through forgiveness of our sin. At his table, we find many life saving foods (Galatians 5:22) which we can only get there. After all, our inventor knows best what we need.
I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.[1] They will come in and go out, and find pasture.
John 10:9
We find salvation in our eternal God only.

If you are on the road today, you have your Smartphone. This way, I am connected and can get any information that I want. Maybe I need to get butter for my wife when I’m already shopping. There are many useful ways to use the device. We get used to new ways quickly! Many cannot even imagine how you communicate without the internet and just one phone per village.
God is always reachable. Some call faith antiquated even though we see God’s work everywhere. God is up-to-date, online and ever present. He invites us: Come to me with your affliction. Bring everything to me and let go of it! I will deal with it and be with you. No one means as well for you as Jesus! Why don’t you try – God waits for your call!?
Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath.

Wer heute unterwegs ist, hat sein Smartphone dabei. So bin ich erreichbar und kann jede Information abrufen, die ich bekommen will. Vielleicht soll ich meiner Frau noch Butter mitbringen, wenn ich schon beim Einkaufen bin. Es gibt viele sinnvolle Möglichkeiten, so ein Gerät einzusetzen. Wir gewöhnen uns schnell an neue Möglichkeiten! Viele können sich gar nicht vorstellen, wie man kommunizierte ohne Internet und mit einem einzigen Telefon im Dorf.
Gott war schon immer ständig erreichbar! Manche bezeichnen den Glauben als überholt; dabei begegnen wir den Werken Gottes überall. Gott ist up to date, immer online und ständig präsent. Er lädt uns ein: Komm zu mir mit deinem Kummer. Bring mir alles und lass es los! Ich befasse mich damit und schaue zu dir.
Niemand meint es so gut mit Ihnen wie Jesus! Warum nicht ausprobieren – Gott wartet auf Ihren Anruf!?
Ihr Menschen, vertraut Gott jederzeit. Schüttet euer Herz bei ihm aus! Gott ist unsere Zuflucht.
