Soccer players know that the most important thing for them is scoring goals. Now, what would your answer be if I asked you what the most important thing in your life is? Take some time now, and think about it carefully. It’s important to know and evaluate where your priorities are.
The Bible unmistakably tells us that God, our creator, wants to be not only at the center of our lives but the paper that our lives are written on. The foundation of everything. The Ten Commandments clearly show us that a true relationship with God is the most important thing. He gives true meaning to our lives, for we are specifically created to have a relationship with him. Jesus told us in John 14:6 that he is the way, the truth and the life, and the only way to get to the father is through him. Our goal should be to get to our father, and Jesus has blasted open that door for us. However, we have to chose to walk through it.
On the other hand, soccer players goals are to score, and that’s why they spend so many hour training to be the best they can be. They train to have endurance, focus, and work successfully together as a team. We as Christians can learn a thing or two from these athletes. We need to also train so we have endurance, even when it gets tough and we feel exhausted, to focus, and not get distracted by the crowds, to learn how to work together as a community to honor God. Our training may look different but it is just as important and through Jesus, through intentional time with God, we can train ourselves and grow stronger.
So let me ask you again, what is the most important thing in your life and how are you training for it?
I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.

Fussballer wissen genau, wer gewinnen will, muss Tore schiessen! Was ist in Ihrem Leben das Wichtigste? Es lohnt sich darüber nachzudenken. Die Bibel zeigt unmissverständlich, dass Gott, unser Schöpfer, das Wichtigste in unserem Leben sein will.
Die Zehn Gebote verdeutlichen, dass eine aufrichtige Beziehung zu Gott das Allerwichtigste ist. Die Verbindung mit unserem Schöpfer gibt unserem Leben den wahren Sinn, denn unser Gestalter hat uns darauf angelegt.
Fussballer fokussieren sich aufs Tore schiessen. Deshalb trainieren sie diese Kernkompetenz und lassen sich von nicht’s anderem ablenken. Gott erinnert uns immer wieder an die Beziehung mit ihm. Sein Sohn weist uns alle darauf hin: Die Beziehung zu Gott (seinem Vater) ist das Wichtigste und es ist nur durch ihn möglich (aus Johannes 14, 6).
Weeks and months of preparation, stressful moments and anticipation. Finally the big day is here. The bride wants to look perfect and beautiful. Everything has to fit just right, the dress, the hair, and the skin needs to look flawless. All while making sure the guests are well taken care of. Of course, the “timing” has to be accurate, since no bride wants to keep everyone waiting on the big day. Days and weeks in advance, she replays the morning of the wedding over and over again, asking herself “did I miss anything?”. Just to make sure she is well prepared and has thought of everything.
In the Bible, the return of Jesus is compared to a wedding. His believers are the bride and Jesus is the bridegroom. Therefore, we are Jesus` bride. Our lives here on earth are meant to prepare us for the beautiful day of our wedding and we need to ask ourselves if we are ready. How can we prepare for this important event? Does something need to change to honor and love our bridegroom? Are we pure? Are we ready to look Jesus in the eyes when our wedding day comes?
Are you ready to encounter Jesus?

Pfingsten ist so bedeutsam wie Weihnachten und Ostern. An Pfingsten hat Jesus seinen Stellvertreter, den Heiligen Geist, zu den Menschen gesandt. Er garantiert den „Link“ zwischen Gott und uns. Er erklärt uns das Wesen Gottes. Und er vertritt die Glaubenden bei Gott auf’s Beste.
Wenn wir auf Jesus vertrauen, dürfen wir wissen, dass der Heilige Geist in uns wohnt. Diese Gewissheit verändert alles. Tägliche Begegnungen werden bedeutsam, weil ich bewusst dafür bete, dass Gott selber diese Momente vorbereitet. Meine Beziehungen werden tragfähiger, weil der Heilige Geist mich liebesfähiger macht. Meine Erfolge relativieren sich, weil ich weiss, wer mir Gelingen schenkt und wo ich neue Kraft schöpfen kann. Mein Versagen bestimmt nicht meine Identität, weil ich Vergebung bei Gott finde. Pfingsten sprengt alle meine Grenzen, weil der Tröster immer bei mir ist.

In der Bibel wird die Wiederkunft von Jesus mit einer Hochzeit verglichen. Die Gläubigen werden als Braut und Jesus als Bräutigam dargestellt. Welche Vorbereitungen sind nötig, um dem Bräutigam zu begegnen? Welche Situationen müssen noch geklärt werden? Wie bereiten wir uns auf dieses wichtige Ereignis vor? Bin ich rein und bereit, dem Bräutigam Jesus in die Augen zu schauen?
