Paul Kalanithi war als 36-jähriger Arzt glücklich verheiratet. Er stand vor einer traumhaften Karriere, als bei ihm Lungenkrebs diagnostiziert wurde. Die Krankheit konnte nicht aufgehalten werden und so schrieb der junge Arzt ein Buch mit dem Titel: «Bevor ich jetzt sterbe – was im Leben wirklich zählt». Diese sehr persönliche und ergreifende Geschichte berührte viele Leser und so war es nicht verwunderlich, dass dieses Buch zu einem Bestseller wurde.
Im Angesicht des Todes wird uns oft erst klar, was im Leben wirklich wichtig ist. Paul Kalanithi entdeckte den Wert seiner Familie und seiner Freunde ganz neu. Kleinigkeiten wurden in dieser Situation neu bewertet. Zentral war seine Entdeckung, dass Jesus die Antwort im Leben und im Sterben ist. Jesus hat den Tod besiegt! Nur bei ihm finden wir Versöhnung und ewiges Leben. Deshalb sind die Worte von Jesus im neuen Testament so wichtig.
Lehre uns bedenken, dass wir sterben müssen, auf dass wir klug werden.
It’s obvious to us that a plant needs light and water to thrive, and without it, it will wither and die. We don’t need to understand how it all works for it to work. This is the same for God. We need him to thrive, but we may not always understand how he works.
Roland F, an interim manager and coach in Switzerland said “We cannot remotely understand God, the Almighty, and Creator with our thoughts. But he has revealed himself to us. He has given us the Ten Commandments. Jesus proclaimed the kingdom of God in human form and called us to follow him. Even if many questions do not [yet] allow conclusive answers, it is sufficient to follow what we understand. In this way, we can discover the divine model and refine it further.”
God personally meets us in our doubts – a great example is the disciple Thomas. Take a moment to read the verse for this week. Begin to trust God, ask him your doubts and discover his promises.
Uns ist klar, dass eine Pflanze zu ihrem Gedeihen Licht und Nahrung braucht und dass sie verdorrt, wenn wir sie nicht begiessen. Das Geheimnis ihres Wachstums müssen wir nicht wirklich verstehen. Das stellt Roland, Interimsmanager und Coach in der Ostschweiz, fest. Er beruhigt: Wir können Gott, den Allmächtigen und Schöpfer mit unseren Gedanken nicht im Entferntesten verstehen. Aber er hat sich uns offenbart. Er hat uns die zehn Gebote gegeben. Jesus hat in menschlicher Gestalt das Reich Gottes verkündigt und in seine Nachfolge gerufen. Auch wenn viele Fragen (noch) keine abschliessenden Antworten erlauben, genügt es dem zu folgen, was wir begreifen. So können wir das göttliche Modell entdecken und «weiter verfeinern».
Dass Gott unseren Zweifeln persönlich entgegenkommt – wie das Beispiel des Jüngers Thomas zeigt – ist schlicht grossartig und ermutigend. Wenn Sie beginnen, Gott und seinen Zusagen zu vertrauen, werden Sie seine Güte und Treue immer mehr entdecken!
Die gute Nachricht ist: Jesus geht auf ehrliche Zweifler ein!

Was ist Werbung und wo beginnt Manipulation? Heute kaufen Werber für ihre Produkte Menschen (Influencer), die auf sozialen Medien bereits viele Fans (Follower) haben. Sie wollen so ihren Kundenkreis vergrössern. Das Ziel ist mehr zu verkaufen und mehr zu verdienen. Viele werden so gutgläubig manipuliert.
Jesus handelt komplett anders. Er ist transparent und legt Positives und Negatives in der Bibel auf den Tisch. Wahrheit und Manipulation haben keine Gemeinsamkeiten. Immer wieder stolpere ich über Gottes unermessliche Liebe zu uns und seine unfassbare Grösse. Er hat jeden von uns genial und individuell geschaffen. Er gab uns auch die Freiheit, ihn abzulehnen. Weil er transparent ist, zeigt er in der Bibel auch die Konsequenzen auf, die damit verbunden sind. Gott kann uns nicht manipulieren, weil er selber die Wahrheit ist und an sie gebunden ist. Über- oder Untertreiben sind für ihn ein «no go». Deshalb nennt er in der Bibel Sünde, Tod und Hölle beim Namen. Echte Liebe spricht auch Klartext!
Wie unergründlich tief ist Gottes Reichtum, wie tief seine Weisheit und seine Voraussicht! Wie unerforschlich sind seine Gerichtsurteile, wie unbegreiflich seine Führungen!
Florence Chadwick, an American long-distance swimmer, attempted to swim from the coast of California to Catalina Island in 1952. She embarked on her challenge, accompanied by a pair of boats in case of an emergency. Roughly 15 hours into her 42 km swim, a thick fog set in. Despite having trained well, she completely lost her orientation and confidence. She became so discouraged that she decided to give up. Later, as she was sitting in the boat, she found out that she had only been 3 km from reaching Catalina Island.
It’s crazy how quickly we can lose our orientation in life by fear, doubt or through an accident. How quickly we can lose the meaning and purpose of our lives by a little fog. Thankfully, Jesus’ words break through the fog. He is not only the signpost amid the fogs of life, who helps you keep your orientation.. he is also the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to God except through him. He has prepared a wonderful home for all who follow him. The Bible speaks loudly about life after death. Whoever lives in Christ will not die, but receive eternal life. An amazing gift. In heaven, we will only meet people that were willing to walk with Jesus. Are you willing? Let him guide your feet, let him show you the way through life`s fogs.
Fun side note:
Two months after Florence Chadwick`s failed attempt, she tried again. Once again, a thick fog set in but this time she had a mental image of the shoreline. She did not let the fog overtake her. She completed the swim and then swam it again two more times.
Take a moment and think about places in your life where life’s fogs overtook you. Maybe it’s time to try again, but this time with Jesus by your side.
