Knowledge is power! This is how we learn, believe, and behave. We keep giving more and more room to the constant technological and digital development, even in our relationships. How healthy is this development, and where do the weak still find a place in this world?
What we consider to be deeply meaningful doesn’t always make sense in God’s eyes. The Bible says: “He catches the wise in their craftiness” and “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile” (1 Corinthians 3:19-20). Does God think intelligent people are stupid? Is He perhaps afraid of them? Completely the opposite is true! Our ability to think is necessary for us to experience an open and honest relationship with God. Why else would He have given us this gift?
There are people who think that they can outsmart God. What do you think? To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his.
Job 12:13
I notice that many people seem to feel intelligent when they exclude God from their lives. This is why the Bible speaks of foolishness. Whoever tries to cancel the Creator is acting unwisely and will be canceled himself! What do you think about this?

Wissen ist Macht! So lernen, glauben und verhalten wir uns. Der ständigen Technisierung und Digitalisierung geben wir immer mehr Raum bis in unsere Beziehungen hinein. Wie gesund ist diese Entwicklung und wo finden Schwächere noch Platz?
Was wir als tiefsinnig betrachten, macht in Gottes Augen nicht immer Sinn. Die Bibel sagt: «Gott fängt die Klugen im Netz ihrer eigenen Schlauheit.» und: «Der Herr kennt die Gedanken der Weisen und weiss, wie sinnlos sie sind.»
Findet denn Gott intelligente Menschen doof? Fürchtet er sich etwa vor ihnen? Ganz im Gegenteil! Um eine offene, ehrliche Beziehung mit Gott zu pflegen, braucht es unser Denken. Wozu hätte er uns denn diese Gabe geschenkt?
Mir fällt auf, dass sich besonders viele intelligent fühlen, wenn sie Gott ausklammern! Die Bibel spricht deshalb von Unsinn. Wer den Schöpfer ausradiert, handelt unweise und wird selbst ausgelöscht!
Bei Gott ist wirklich Weisheit, Rat und Einsicht und auch die Macht, Geplantes auszuführen.

This is a saying that we’ve all heard, and there really are many roads that lead to Rome. But that’s exactly where the problem begins.
Once when I was driving from Rome to an appointment, I missed the right exit off the highway and was forced to take a gigantic loop around to get back on track. I got delayed and was stuck in rush hour traffic. I missed my important appointment. What a wasted day; all my traveling had been in vain.
Much more serious consequences result when we get on the wrong track in life. That’s why Jesus reminds us that he is the only way, the only truth, and the true life, and that only through him can we come to God. This statement is so extreme that it is still met with a lot of resistance today. The religious leaders burned with anger at the very thought of accepting Jesus as the Son of God. They wanted to secretly silence Him. But Jesus conquered death and rose from the dead.
I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6
Absolutely nothing and no one can destroy God’s plans and His promises. Only one road leads to God: Jesus Christ. Do you believe this?

Diese Redewendung kennen wir alle und es führen auch viele Wege nach Rom. Doch genau da beginnt das Problem. – Als ich auf der Tangentialen von Rom die richtige Ausfahrt verpasste, drehte ich eine gewaltige Zusatzrunde. Ich verspätete mich und kam in den Stossverkehr. Meinen wichtigen Termin verpasste ich. Schade für den Tag, an dem ich vergeblich angereist war.
Viel grössere Konsequenzen entstehen, wenn wir uns im Leben verrennen. Deshalb erinnert uns Jesus daran, dass er der einzige Weg, die einzige Wahrheit und das wahre Leben ist und dass wir nur durch ihn zu Gott kommen können. Diese Aussage ist so krass, dass sie noch heute auf viel Widerstand stösst. Die Religiösen glühten vor Wut im Gedanken daran, Jesus als Sohn Gottes zu akzeptieren. Sie wollten ihn möglichst unauffällig zum Schweigen bringen. Doch Jesus hat den Tod besiegt und ist auferstanden. Nichts und niemand kann Gottes Pläne und seine Verheissungen vernichten. Zu Gott führt nur der Weg, Jesus Christus.
Ich bin der Weg, die Wahrheit und das Leben. Niemand kommt zum Vater als nur durch mich.

The new year has just begun, and many have made New Year’s resolutions. Are there also things in your life that will change or that you want to change? Unfortunately, after a while, just about everything returns to the way it was. At least that’s what I hear and statistics confirm.
The acclaimed musician David writes in his Psalm 16:1-2: “Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the Lord, ‘You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.’”
Wow, that sounds powerful! Is this really the case?
Yes, I can also personally affirm this. I have walked through different phases of life. God has put a deep joy in my heart, which has sustained me through all the storms of life for over fifty years. This is better than a good New Year’s resolution. It sustains me even beyond life on this earth!
