In the beloved mountains, Simon often does not find the right path. Screes, snowfields, fog, rain and snow make it difficult to find the right way. Fortunately, hikers help each other out by piling stones on top of each other – so called “stonemen” which are placed in frequent positions. These “stone towers” give security so hikers know that they are on the right path.
I see parallels to our life with God. When I read the Bible or meet with friends to talk about God, I become certain that I am on the right path. At the same time, I realize where I need to change course or make corrections. I want to get to the destination safely. Therefore I put my life in Jesus’ hands. I wish exactly that for you this year.
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
We all would rather be winners than losers. But what do you really want to get? The question of Matthew 16:26 “For what good will it do a person if he gains the whole world, but [a]forfeits his soul? Or what will a person give in exchange for his soul?” is uncomfortable for many.
Jesus was prepared to give up his privileges in heaven and to come to this earth as a simple man. As the Son of God, he had to fulfill a special mission. He had to carry the sin of the world. His historic event was fulfilled by Jesus at the cross of Golgotha. With that, he conquered sin once and for all and took the power of death.
Everyone who trusts him and accepts his rule, will have an everlasting life.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.”
Wir alle möchten lieber Gewinner anstatt Verlierer sein. Doch was möchten wir denn genau bekommen? Die Frage aus Matthäus 16,26: «Was nützt es, die ganze Welt zu gewinnen und dabei seine Seele zu verlieren?» ist für viele seltsam und unbequem. Jesus war bereit, seine Privilegien im Himmel aufzugeben und als einfacher Mensch zu uns auf die Erde zu kommen. Er hatte als Sohn von Gott eine übernatürliche Bestimmung zu erfüllen. Er musste die Sünde der ganzen Welt tragen. Dieses historische Ereignis vollbrachte Jesus am Kreuz auf Golgatha. Damit besiegte er die Sünde ein für allemal und nahm dem Tod endgültig die Macht.
Alle, die sich ihm anvertrauen und seine Herrschaft annehmen, bekommen ewiges Leben. Welch grossartiges Geschenk!
«Also hat Gott die Welt geliebt, dass er seinen einzigen Sohn gab. Jeder, der nun auf ihn vertraut, bekommt das ewige Leben.»
What privilege the disciples had who were with Jesus for 3 years and experienced the most amazing things. Walking on water, feeding thousands with a bit of bread and fish, blind could see, lame walk and the dead arose! Wasn’t it enough to prove that he was the promised Messiah?
Seemingly most of that was done away with through the crucifixion. The disciples paniced! So when they were accused of having stolen the body, they were desperate! They didn’t believe the women’s report who told them that Jesus was risen!
Then Jesus revealed himself “Peace be with you!” Touch me, give me something to eat and finally believe that it is me!” There is no better poof than the one that Jesus met his disciples multiple times. He encouraged the doubters and scaredy-cats!
Look at my hands and my feet. It is I, myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.
Was für ein Privileg hatten doch die Jünger, die mit Jesus über 3 Jahre zusammen waren und gewaltige Dinge erleben konnten. Auf dem Wasser gehen, mit etwas Brot und Fisch Tausende von Menschen sättigen, Blinde sehen, Lahme gehen, Tote stehen auf! War das nicht genug, um zu beweisen, dass er der verheissene Messias ist?
Scheinbar war durch die Kreuzigung vieles wie weggeblasen. Die Jünger wurden in Angst und Schrecken versetzt! Als sie dann noch beschuldigt wurden, die Leiche gestohlen zu haben, waren sie noch verzweifelter! Dem Bericht der Frauen glaubten sie nicht, die ihnen erzählten, dass Jesus wirklich auferstanden sei!
Dann kam Jesus höchstpersönlich vorbei: «Friede sei mit euch! Tastet mich an, gebt mir etwas zu essen und glaubt endlich, dass ich es bin!» Es gibt keinen grösseren Beweis als diesen, dass Jesus einige Male seinen Jüngern begegnet ist. Er hat die Zweifler und Angsthasen liebevoll ermutigt!
Schaut mich doch an, meine Hände, meine Füsse, dann erkennt ihr, dass ich es wirklich bin! Fasst mich an und überzeugt euch; ein Geist hat doch nicht Fleisch und Knochen wie ich!
