Hinter dem Sieg stecken viele einsame Trainings und Disziplin. Nicht zu unterschätzen ist die mentale Stärke, die durch Niederlagen, Verletzungen, Medienberichte auf’s Äusserste geprüft werden. Was muss der Athlet nicht alles wegstecken, überwinden und hinter sich lassen! Gut, dass er einen Trainer hat, der ihn aufrichtet, motiviert und ihm immer wieder das Ziel vor Augen hält: den Pokal!
Konflikte und andere Irritationen können Sie im Glauben ins Schleudern bringen. Deshalb verwendet die Bibel das Sportlerbild, um unsern Fokus auf das Ziel zu schärfen. Deshalb gibt Gott seinen Nachfolgern, den Heiligen Geist als Trainer, Helfer und Tröster.

The fans in the arena jump off their seats and cheer. They celebrate their hero, the winner of the match. Journalists try to catch his attention, ask questions and stream them worldwide.
Behind the victory are a lot of lonely hours of training and discipline. You also cannot underestimate the mental strength that is being tested by losses, injuries and the reports in various media. It’s a lot that an athlete must endure, overcome and leave behind! It’s a good thing that he has a coach who builds him up, motivates, and keeps his focus on the result: the trophy!
But the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Conflicts and other irritations have the potential to shake your faith. This is why the Bible uses the picture of sports, to hone our focus towards the goal. This is why God gives his disciples the Holy Spirit as trainer, helper and comforter.

Over and over again people take to the street to protest against environmental destruction, corruption and self-glorifying governments. They go against a system that is destroying our world. In this connection the term “Babylon” comes up.
The Bible tells us that God challenged early humankind with delusions of grandeur and pride. The story of the tower of Babel became the symbol of arrogance and insolence. Who is surprised that, in the last book of the Bible, Babylon is a synonym for a sick, egocentric system that, at the end, will break from greed, immorality and power.
Many of the young protesters probably do not know these biblical references. They fight against an egocentric or totalitarian system that cannot be changed through new faces or even the force of weapons. The longed for peace, falls by the wayside.
Then they said, “Come. Let’s build a city for ourselves. Let’s build a tower that reaches to the sky. We’ll make a name for ourselves. Then we won’t be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”
Genesis 11,4
What we really need is a revolution of hearts. This change is made by the Holy Spirit in people who submit to the Price of Peace in humility and obedience.

Gott hat den Menschen geniale Fähigkeiten gegeben. Wissenschaft und Technik haben uns Fortschritt, aber auch Zerstörung und Selbstüberschätzung gebracht. Schon die frühe Menschheit forderte Gott heraus. Die biblische Geschichte vom Turmbau in Babel wurde zum Symbol von Hochmut und Rebellion. Wann immer Menschen sich gegen Gott auflehnten, verloren sie seinen Segen und ihre Freiheit. Im letzten Buch der Bibel steht «Babylon» für ein krankes, egoistisches System, welches am Ende der Welt an Gier, Unmoral und Machthunger zerbrechen wird.
Viele Menschen, die heute gegen Umweltzerstörung, Korruption oder totalitäre Regierungen demonstrieren, kennen diese biblischen Bezüge nicht. Sie kämpfen gegen ein System, das nicht mit neuen Gesichtern oder Waffengewalt verändert werden kann. Der ersehnte Friede bleibt auf der Strecke, wenn nicht unsere Herzen grundlegend geheilt werden.
Jesus ist gekommen die Revolution in den Herzen zu bewirken. Wenn Sie kapitulieren und sich dem Friedefürst in Demut und Gehorsam unterstellen, kann sein Heilungsprozess starten.

The referee’s job is becoming more and more difficult. Each team wants to win at any cost and is tempted to use prohibited methods. The rules permit the teams to correct and stop them if necessary. Rules seem to limit freedom, but they also make the game more equitable and fair.
Jesus Christ connects freedom and justice. He showed us the love for our neighbour. He is an example and “coach” for respectful togetherness.
Our own strength is insufficient. Often we are emotionally uncontrolled. In our relationships, we need the cleaning power of Jesus’ forgiveness. Led by the Holy Spirit, we learn more and more to live relationships openly and honestly.
But don’t use your freedom as an excuse to live in sin. Instead, serve one another in love.
