How I would have loved to have run with the other children, but my body was too weak for that. As a result, I felt that I had been placed on the sidelines. Although much has changed over the past years, I can still feel the weakness of my body today. When my friends excluded me from activities they did together, I especially felt like an outsider. Their fear that my weak health could prove to be an obstacle to playing sports or climbing mountains was understandable, however. Still, this “being set aside” in so many circumstances left deep inner wounds, which brought me into a crisis.
A Bible study on safety and security showed me my true self worth. A new certainty awakened within me: I am completely and absolutely accepted by God; He loves me very much. All of this helped my relationship with God to deepen. I realized that He has thoughts of peace over my life to give me a future and a hope. This statement may seem like a slap in the face to you if you are currently resisting both your destiny in life and a God of love. I also know this phase very well; and for years I kept asking the question: “Why me?”
After having read in the Bible how Job and some of the Psalmists had brought their “why” before God, one day I had the courage to ask God this question: “Lord, why did this have to happen to me of all people?” I never received all the answers to my suffering. Nonetheless, I came to understand His work in my life much better, just like Job did. In this way, I slowly began to realize that my difficulties are limited and passing. With God’s help, new horizons opened up for me. I learned to thank Him for the “half-full cup” which God Himself had poured for me. Thus, I no longer mourned the “half-empty cup.”
Since then, my comfort is found in God’s Word: “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18).
In an interview, a hermit said that it is important to love yourself enough so you can love others. To support his opinion, he said that the Bible would teach that as well. This type of interpretation is not new. Let’s see what the Bible really says in context.
“And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Matthew 22:37-39
Conclusion: Jesus reminds us that God is the true source of love! So to love ourselves or others we need this unique, deep relationship with God that includes the heart, the soul and our thinking.
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
In einem Interview erklärte ein Einsiedler, dass es wichtig sei, sich selbst genügend zu lieben, um dadurch andere lieben zu können. Er wollte seine Meinung unterstreichen, indem er sagte, dass die Bibel das auch so lehre. – Diese Art von Interpretation ist nicht neu. Schauen wir doch, was im zitierten biblischen Kontext wirklich steht.
«Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, lieben mit deinem ganzen Herzen und mit deiner ganzen Seele und mit deinem ganzen Denken». Das ist das erste und grösste Gebot. Und das zweite ist ihm vergleichbar: «Du sollst deinen Nächsten lieben wie dich selbst». (Jesus in Matthäus 22,37-38)
Fazit: Jesus erinnert uns daran, dass Gott die echte Liebesquelle ist! Um uns oder andere lieben zu können, benötigen wir diese einzigartige, tiefe Beziehung zu Gott, die Herz, Seele und Denken erfasst.Die Reihenfolge der Bibel ist klar: liebe Gott, dann den Nächsten und dann dich selbst!
Wer an mich glaubt, wird erfahren, was die Heilige Schrift sagt: «Von seinem Inneren wird Leben spendendes Wasser ausgehen wie ein starker Strom.»
On July 14, 1865, a rope party of seven ascended the Matterhorn. Wymper the father and son Taugwalder were the only surviving members. Defeated and depressed, they arrived in Zermatt. It remains a tragedy with a lot of open questions. At the same time Italiens ascended too. Without any issues they arrived at the mountain. After the first ascent Zermatt was mourning while Cervinia was celebrating.
This example shows very explicitly that joy and grief are very close together. On your life expedition, are you prepared to meet the Almighty? Those who ignore him, miss the goal. We all need the forgiveness of Jesus Christ.
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.

Eine sieben Mann starke Seilschaft hat am 14. Juli 1865 das Matterhorn bezwungen. Wymper mit Vater und Sohn Taugwalder waren die einzigen Überlebenden dieser Gruppe. Sie kamen abgeschlagen und deprimiert in Zermatt an. Es bleibt ein Drama mit vielen offenen Fragen. Gleichzeitig zogen auch Italiener los. Ohne «Zwischenfall» erreichten sie drei Tage später den Berg. Nach der Erstbesteigung wurde in Zermatt getrauert, in Cervinia dagegen ausgiebig gefeiert.
Dieses Beispiel zeigt eindrücklich, dass Freude und Leid nahe beisammen sind. Sind Sie auf Ihrer Lebensexpedition bereit, dem allmächtigen Gott zu begegnen? Wer ihn ignoriert, verfehlt das Ziel. Wir alle haben Vergebung durch Jesus Christus nötig.
Der Weg redlicher Menschen führt am Unglück vorbei. Darum: Wer sein Leben bewahren will, achtet auf seinen Weg.
