An estate owner leases out his vineyard and travels abroad. A messenger was to collect the agreed upon portion of the harvest but he was beaten by the tennant. This repeated itself until the owner sent his own son as he hoped that they would show more respect towards him. When the farmers saw the son, they killed him out of greed and jealousy.
After this story, the scribes and leaders of the people would have liked to grab Jesus. They knew that they were the tenants in the analogy who would kill the son.
The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone
Psalms 118:22
Conclusion: Instead of confronting their wickedness they became vicious and got Jesus nailed to the cross. Are we allowing the Bible’s truth to question us regularly? It mirrors and uncovers falsehoods so healing forgiveness and reconciliation can occur. This is why Jesus sacrificed his life for us.
How do you go about the offer of reconciliation?
Scripture of the Week: Mark 12:1-12 (original text of the analogy)
Way too often, I forget to thank my wife for the delicious food, the ironed dress-shirts… Many things just evolve around myself and my problems. It’s very quick that daily help becomes normal. Asking for more and being “criticizing” quickly becomes the standard.
Encouraging, grateful encounters are “drivers” and motivate to even higher performance. This way you have a positive ripple effect. Spitefulness, however, is poisonous .
Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 5:20
The forgiving love through Jesus produces happiness and gratitude in me. It fills my heart with indescribable joy when I experience his forgiveness over again.
How do you feel about your personal relationship with God?
That Jesus rose from the dead and lives. He convinced 500 people who saw it with their own eyes. Subsequently, he went to Bethany with them, gathered them and gave them the mission to go everywhere to talk about what they experienced. However, before that, they were to wait in Jerusalem until they were baptised in the Holy Spirit. He then blessed them and a cloud took him into the Heavens. This occurred 40 days after Easter when Jesus returned to heaven. That is Ascension!
“Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
Acts 1:11
Speechlessly the disciples starred in the sky and were overwhelmed by what they had experienced. Suddenly two men in white clothes stood amongst them and asked: “What are you looking up? The Jeses that went from you into the Heavens will return the same way he had left!” That filled them with great happiness and they returned to Jerusalem and praised God.
Ascension is hope because Jesus will return as he went up in heaven. Live with Jesus then you have all reason to praise the Lord. This is not only with song. We can praise God with the heart, mouth and hands. It has something to do with our attitude.
