Jesus erzählte von einem Zöllner und einem Pharisäer, die im Tempel beteten. Der Pharisäer zählte vor Gott alle seine guten Taten auf. Am Schluss sagte er: «Danke, dass ich nicht so bin wie andere Leute… oder wie etwa dieser Zöllner da hinten.» Komplett anders betete der Zöllner, der in der Nähe des Eingangs stehen blieb und Gott um Vergebung bat, weil er wusste, dass er ein Sünder war.
Wie gut verstehen wir es, uns in den schönsten Farben bei Gott zu präsentieren und verachten den, der in unseren Augen weniger gut ist als wir. Solcher Stolz verhindert eine ehrliche Beziehung mit Gott. Der aufrichtige Zöllner hingegen, dem seine Sünde leid tat, fand Vergebung bei Gott!
Gott! Vergib mir, ich weiss, dass ich ein Sünder bin.

Fazit: Jesus verurteilt alle selbstgerechten Zuhörer, die auf andere herabsehen. Er will sie lehren, dass ihr Stolz den Weg zum Himmel versperrt. Wenn wir Gott aufrichtig begegnen, reden wir mit ihm über unsere Schuld. Wir bitten ihn um Vergebung und empfangen sie.
Reflektieren lernen ist entscheidend für die Beziehung mit Gott!

Jesus sollte zum Tod verurteilt werden. Trotz falscher Zeugenaussagen fand der römische Prokurator Pilatus keine Schuld an ihm und fragte Jesus: «Was ist Wahrheit?» Er nahm sich jedoch keine Zeit für die Antwort von Jesus; sondern eilte hinaus zu der tobenden Menge, die schrie: «Kreuzigt ihn!» Pilatus knickte unter dem massiven Druck der Juden ein. Er wusch voller Angst seine Hände in Unschuld und liess Jesus abführen. Anschliessend wurde Jesus mit einer Dornenkrone und einem Purpurmantel als König verkleidet, verhöhnt, bespuckt, verspottet, gegeisselt und gekreuzigt.
Ich bin dazu geboren und in die Welt gekommen, dass ich für die Wahrheit zeugen soll.
sagt Jesus in Johannes 18,37b
Pilatus war Jesus so nahe und trotzdem verpasste er «die Wahrheit». Wie vielen Menschen geht es heute ebenso? Jesus ist der Weg, die Wahrheit und das Leben (Johannes 14,6).
Die Wahrheit ist nicht eine Meinung, keine Ansicht, sondern eine Person! Jesus Christus, der Sohn Gottes!
Jesus is to be sentenced to death. Despite false witnesses, the Roman procurator Ponsions Pilate could not find any guilt in him and asked: “What is truth?” However, he didn’t take the time to hear Jesus’ response but hurried to the raving crowd who yelled “Crucify him!”. Pilate bent under the pressure of the Jews. He washed his hands in righteousness and had Jesus arrested. Subsequently, Jesus was dressed in a crown of thorns and a crimson color coat, he was ridiculed, spat at, mocked, castigated and crucified.
‘You are a king, then!’ said Pilate. Jesus answered, ‘You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.’
John 18:37
Pilate was close to Jesus and still missed “the truth”. How many people are experiencing the same thing? Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). Truth is not an opinion, or point of view, it is a person! Jesus is the Son of God!
Die Römer zerstörten mit der Kreuzigung sämtliche Hoffnungen in den ungefähr 33 jährigen Jesus, der Kranke heilte. Warum brachte man ihn grundlos und ohne Skrupel um? Darüber diskutierten zwei Männer, die auf dem Weg nach Emmaus waren. Zu ihnen gesellte sich ein Fremder, der immer wieder Fragen stellte. Es schien, als wisse er vom tragischen Ereignis der letzten Tage noch nichts. Trotzdem lehrte er sie, dass alles so geschehen musste, wie es die Heilige Schrift voraussagte. Die Diskussion war so angeregt, dass sie den Gast zum Nachtessen einluden. Als der «Fremde» das Dankgebet sprach und das Brot brach, erkannten sie in ihm den auferstandenen Jesus. Im selben Moment verschwand er! – «Hatten wir es in unserem Herzen nicht gemerkt, dass seine Erklärungen uns berührten?» sagten sie zueinander.
Kurz darauf begegnete Jesus auch den anderen zehn Jüngern, die hinter verschlossenen Türen sassen. «Friede sei mit euch!» Er zeigte den erschrockenen Männern seine durchbohrten Hände und Füsse und ass mit ihnen! Geduldig erklärte er ihnen aus Gottes Wort, dass er der versprochene Retter sei. Jesus, die Hoffnung, stand real, fassbar, mitten unter ihnen. Er lebt, er ist da, er ist erfahrbar, auch heute.
«Schaut mich doch an, meine Hände, meine Füsse, dann erkennt ihr, dass ich es wirklich bin! Fasst mich an und überzeugt euch; ein Geist hat doch nicht Fleisch und Knochen wie ich!» Während er das sagte, zeigte er ihnen seine Hände und seine Füsse.

So wie die Jünger noch vieles lernen mussten, geht es auch uns. Sie hatten Jesus gesehen und lebten mit ihm. Wir können ihn durch die Bibel kennen lernen und wenn wir an ihn glauben, werden wir ihn auch persönlich erfahren. Wir können mit ihm reden im Gebet. Er antwortet und wirkt in unserem Leben, denn er bietet uns genau diesen Weg des Glaubens und des Vertrauens an. Obwohl man ihn damals sehen und hören konnte glaubten viele trotzdem nicht. Es kommt also nicht darauf an, ob wir ihn sehen oder nicht. Glaube heisst hoffen und noch nicht sehen. Wir haben das Privileg in eine echte, tiefe Beziehung zu ihm hin zu wachsen.

This was the topic two men discussed on their way to Emmaus. A foreigner who asked some questions met up with them. It seemed like he didn’t know anything about the events of the past days. Nevertheless, he taught them that everything had to happen exactly like it was written in the Holy Scriptures. The discussion was so engaging that they invited the guest for supper. When the “stranger” said grace and broke the bread, they recognized the resurrected Jesus in him. He disappeared in the same movement. They said to each other: “Didn’t we feel in our hearts how his explanations touched us?”
Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” 40 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet.
Luke 24:39-40
Shortly after, Jesus encountered the disciples who sat behind locked doors. “Peace be with you!” He showed his pierced feet and hands to the shocked men and sat with them. Patiently, he explained from scripture that he was the promised Saviour. Jesus the hope stood real, touchable in their midst. He lives, he is there, he is tangible even today.
Just like the disciples had to learn a lot so do we today. They had seen Jesus and lived with him. We can get to know him through the Bible and if we believe in him, we can experience a personal relationship. We can talk to him in prayer. He responds and works in our lives since he offers exactly this way of faith and trust. Even though they could see and hear him, many did not believe anyway. It therefore doesn’t matter if we see him or not. To believe means to hope without already seeing. It is a privilege to grow into a true, deep relationship with him.
