The happy and spirited Christians met regularly for services. They gathered in homes as they were excluded from Synagogues. God’s story lived through the communion of believers.
A mix of men, women, employees and entrepreneurs, foreigners and citizens were reading God’s word, praying, singing and celebrating the Lord’s Supper. They shared their lives with each other. God did miracles among them. Their reach was so large that thousands joined the community.
Throughout the centuries, there were sick, negative developments which didn’t have anything to do with the original cause. Over and over, God used people to put the topics of reconciliation and relationship into the focus. Even today there are believers who pray to Jesus in the Holy Spirit and do not differentiate between people. God wants us to live in community.
There is no Jew or Greek. There is no slave or free person. There is no male or female. Because you belong to Christ Jesus, you are all one.

Immer wieder quälten mich existenzielle Ängste! Sie waren ständige Begleiter und so begann ich mich zu sorgen wegen meiner Arbeit, den Finanzen, der Wohnung, dem Essen, der Familie… Gottes Möglichkeiten rückten immer mehr in den Hintergrund.
Meine Sorgenlast wurde ständig grösser und erdrückte mich fast. Ich verbreitete negative Stimmung. Es ging mir schlecht! Ich musste mich entscheiden, mein Problem ehrlich anzugehen. Ich suchte das Gespräch mit einem erfahrenen Seelsorger. Dann machte ich folgendes:
- Im Gebet legte ich die Sorgen ab, wie es die Bibel beschreibt.
- Ich richtete mein Leben neu auf Jesus aus und nahm seine Hilfe an.
- Wollten mich Sorgen überfallen, wies ich sie erneut weg.
- Ich hielt an Jesus und den Aussagen der Bibel fest.
Reden Sie frei mit Jesus wie mit Ihrem besten Freund und geben Sie ihm das Recht einzugreifen. Studieren sie betend den Wochentext.Schreiben Sie uns, wir suchen gemeinsam biblische Antworten.

Over and over again existential fears tortured me! They were always there so I started to worry about my work, finances, the apartment, food, the family… God’s possibilities grew fainter and fainter.
My worries were weighing me down more and more and threatened to take my breath. I spread my negative mood. I wasn’t well at all! I had to decide to deal with my problem honestly. I sought a conversation with an experienced councillor. Then I did the following:
I put down my worries in prayer just like the Bible tells us.
I recalibrated my life towards Jesus and took his help.
When worries wanted to come back, I sent them away.
I clung to Jesus and the Bible.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28

The acknowledgement by King David of Israel in Psalm 32:3-4 is absolutely applicable today. He had laid his hand on his warrior’s wife and tried to hide it maliciously. He put the courageous husband and warrior in the first line where he got killed.
This hiding game made David sick. He failed completely. Instead of acknowledging his sin, he wanted to save his marriage. God doesn’t play along with these games. He sent a prophet to the King who uncovered the sin.
The Bible tells us that all men without exception are guilty before God (Roman 3:23). However the Bible further tells us where and how we can be helped. Let’s stop masking our failure. Jesus paid for it with his life. Dishonesty makes us sick and costs us eternal life.
Allow Jesus to forgive your sin then your life will be brighter and clearer.

Das Bekenntnis aus Psalm 32, 2 vom damaligen König David, in Israel, ist auch heute top aktuell. Er hatte sich an der Frau seines Kriegsknechtes vergangen. Er versuchte, seinen Fehltritt auf hinterhältige Weise zu vertuschen. Den tapferen Ehemann und Krieger stellte er zuvorderst an die Front, wo dieser umkam.
Dieses gemeine Versteckspiel machte David krank! Er hatte komplett versagt. Anstatt seine Schuld zu bekennen, wollte er seine Ehre retten. Doch Gott macht bei solchen «Spielchen» nicht mit. Er schickte einen Propheten zum König, der ihm seine Sünde aufdeckte.
Die Bibel sagt, dass alle Menschen, ohne Ausnahme, vor Gott schuldig sind (Römer 3, 23). Aber sie zeigt uns auch, wo und wie uns geholfen wird. Blenden wir unser Versagen nicht länger aus! Jesus bezahlte mit seinem Leben dafür. Unaufrichtigkeit macht krank und kostet uns das ewige Leben.
Lassen wir uns deshalb von Jesus alle Schuld vergeben, dann wird unser Leben wieder hell und klar.
«Erst wollte ich meine Schuld verschweigen;
doch davon wurde ich so krank …»
